The power of being vulnerable is that it opens the door to true connection and intimacy. You go beyond the facade, beyond the appearances that can cause so much pain and divisiveness. You see yourself in someone else; you see how similar you are, even with clear and present differences. The walls you erected out of conditioning, judgment or fear fall away. You share the joys and sorrows and you share the Love. I am reminded of the words I once read attributed to a Catholic nun: “If you’ve come here to help me, you’re wasting your time. But if your liberation is bound up with mine, take my hand.” ~ Christiane Schull
