I have a mystical bent and an intuitive nature. When I started out as a freelancer, I pitched a story for a national magazine on homeless women across Canada. It was my introduction to what happens when a story not only strikes a chord but strikes an angry chord. When the story landed, there was backlash from different sectors. Seasoned journalists told me it was par for the course. It was 1981 and I was twenty-two years of age. I didn’t know how to deal with it, so I stepped away from the heat by writing travel stories and business and personality profiles.
Later, I would gain experience as a researcher and field producer in documentary television (true crime and the paranormal). I loved the investigative documentary form. In 1995, an article I wrote was commissioned as a dark comedy and inspired a move to Los Angeles.
In 2009, I began receiving downloads about a cold case. I spent the next ten plus years exploring and writing about a potential reincarnation related to the historic true story. As I sent out queries about the manuscript, I experienced harassment from different quarters. Looking into that would lead to more disquieting discoveries. I decided to shelve the project. – Christiane Schull
