In the very early days of a project dealing with psychic phenomena, I booked lunch with a friend. I had many questions and she was a seasoned psychic. I was concerned about the drive there because it took me through unfamiliar canyon roads. I prayed to the gods of GPS and God, too. I asked for a safe arrival, in divine timing.

As I drove down the Pacific Coast Highway, in Malibu, CA, I saw an extraordinary sight. Flying in front of me, just beyond the front bumper of my car was a large hawk, its massive wings spread.

The hawk dropped back, flying up, and over my car.

I could see it as I looked up through the skylight.

The hawk stayed with me, like a protector or shepherd, flying just over the roof, until I arrived at my destination. The hawk hovered a second like it was giving me a nod, and then, flew away.

In many traditions, hawks are considered spiritual and ancestral guardians. They are symbolic of protection, strength, sharp vision, and wisdom, seeing the big picture, taking the long view, holding fast, and staying true.
