On May 5th, 2026, I faced the blank page. On May 18th, I completed the first draft of a screenplay. A dark comedy. I listened to writer, Paul Schrader who made so much sense to me. Watched movies. Read scripts. Then employed David Lynch’s approach – building the story out in 77 scenes on cue cards. I lived with those cue cards for two weeks before sitting down to write. I wrote 12 pages a day, every day. I gave myself that discipline. It was exhilarating because I had been struggling with the screenplay form.
I have much to learn (joy!), and more stories to write. ~ Christiane Schull
